These Ideas Are Yours for the Taking

I publish these as "free" ideas for two reasons:

  1. Execution is often a lot harder than coming up with the idea itself. (I vaguely remember a Gwern quote along these lines, but cannot find it.)
  2. I will almost certainly not execute on any of these ideas, and since I think they should be brought into existence, I'd rather show them to others to make that more likely.

Deepfake Red Team

Deepfakes, both video and audio, are really good now. And they don't need that much training data.

This company would be hired by companies or individuals to create and deploy deepfakes that try to gain access or solicit material (money, documents, etc) from the target. A postmortem would be created

Naltrexone Clinic for Vices

Naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, is used for alcohol and opioid addicts. It helps them dissociate the act of using from the subsequent pleasure they feel. The Sinclair Method is the only organization that is dedicated to treating alcoholism with naltrexone.

But what about other so-called vices that result in dopamine release, such as pornography, gambling, food, etc? The mechanism is practically the same.

This company would be dedicated to treating all dopamine-releasing vices through naltrexone.

I am currently designing experiments for treating vices with naltrexone at the time of writing (February 2026).

Automated Book Making Using Typography-Tuned LLM

Books are so back. Beautiful books never went out of style. LLMs are in and probably here to stay.

This comapany would train and fine-tune an LLM on a variety of typographies. Customers would be able to submit their text of choice and choose a style (or provide an example) that the LLM would emulate.
